Quantitative Aptitude - Arithmetic Ability Questions

Let the triangle and parallelogram have common base b, 

let the Altitude of triangle is h1 and of parallelogram is h2(which is equal to 100 m), then  

Area of triangle    = 12×b×h1 

Area of rectangle  = b*h2 

As per Given,

12*b*h1=b*h2

12*b*h1=b*100

 h1=200

Let the salaries of Maneela and Shanthi one year before be M1, S1 & now be M2, S2 respectively.

Then, from the given data,

M1/S1 = 3/4  .....(1)

M1/M2 = 4/5 .....(2)

S1/S2 = 2/3  .....(3)

and M2 + S2 = 4160  .....(4)

Solving all these eqtns, we get M2 = Rs. 1600.

Use unitary method:

In  hours, 123 typists can type 984 paper

In 1 minute, 123 typists can type   = 246 papers

In 1 minute, 1 typist can type  =2 papers      [ Hint  hours = 4 minutes]

(385/1001) = 5/13

First Number is 5

=> Fourth number is 13 

Let, Total of current ages of the 2 daughters is A years.
Then, father’s current age = 3A years.
(3A + 5) = 2 (A +10)
3A + 5 = 2A + 20
A = 15
Therefore, father’s current age = 45 years.

Ratio of shares of A,B,C = (24 x 4) : (10 x 6) : (56 x 5)

                                    = 96 : 60 : 280.

Let total rent be Rs. x. Then, A's share = Rs.96x436

 ∴96x436=960 ⇔x=960×43696=4360

Hence total rent of the field is Rs. 4360.

From the above formula i.e (m1 x t1/w1) = (m2 x t2/w2)

so, [(34 x 8 x 9)/(2/5)] = [(M x 6 x 9)/(3/5)]

so, M = 136 men

Number of men to be added to finish the work = 136-34 = 102 men.
