Q:

In a class there are certain no. of boys and girls. If 15 girls are absent then no. of boys will be twice that of girls. If 45 boys are absent then girls strength will be 5 times that of boys. Find number of boys actually present ?

A) 40 B) 50
C) 55 D) 35

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) 50

Explanation:

15 girls are absent => b = 2(g-15)...... eqn...(1)

45 boys are absent => g - 15 = 5(b-45).....eqn...(2)

=> g = 5(b-45) + 15

=> b = 2((5(b-45)+15)-15)

=> b = 2(5b - 225 + 15 - 15)

=> b = 2(5b-225)

=> b = 10b - 450

=> 9b = 450

=> b = 50

so from equation(2)

g - 15 = 5(b - 45)

=> g - 15 = 5(50-45)

=> g - 15 = 5(5)

=> g = 25 + 15

=> g = 40

Therefore, the number of boys = 50 and girls = 40

Q:

The ratio of the speed of Two trains is 5:8. Sum of their length is 660. The ratio of time taken to cross an Electric Pole by train A and B is 4:3. What is the difference between the length of two trains?

A) 50m B) 40m
C) 60m D) 45m

Answer & Explanation Answer: C) 60m

Explanation:

Ans.
Given that length of first train + length of second train = 660
Speed of first train : Speed of second train = 5:8 =5x : 8x
Time taken to cross the poll by two trains = 4:3 =4y:3y
Now ,
(5x*4y) + (8x*3y) = 660
44xy = 660
xy = 15
L1 - L2 = 24xy -20xy = 4xy = 60 m

Q:

Arun is a cashew merchant in Telangana. He has cashews in sealed wooden boxes of 10kg each. The price of the cashew increases by Rs.20 per kg for every year, but at the same time, 10% of the cashews are eaten by rodents every year. If the price of a 1 kg of fresh cashew is Rs.120, what is the change in his profits if he sells a sealed box after one year of storage, rather than selling it fresh ? (In Rs.)

A) Rs. 60 B) Rs. 54
C) Rs. 80 D) Rs. 75

Answer & Explanation Answer: A) Rs. 60

Explanation:

Price of 1kg fresh cashew = Rs.120
Therefore, price of 10kg = Rs.120 x 10 = Rs.1200

10% of 10kg which eaten by rodents = 10 x 10/100 = 1kg.

So, End of Year he had 10kg - 1kg = 9kg

So, he sells that 9kg with Rs.20 per kg profit = 9 x 140 = 1260.

He buy 10kg wooden box with cashew for Rs.1200 and sell that for Rs. 1260

So, profit = 1260 - 1200 = Rs.60 more money he get.
