Q:

Three numbers are in the ratio of 3:4:5 and their L.C.M is 3600.Their HCF is:

A) 40 B) 60
C) 100 D) 120

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) 60

Explanation:

Let the numbers be 3x, 4x, 5x.

Then, their L.C.M = 60x.

So, 60x=3600 or x=60.

Therefore,  The numbers are (3 x 60), (4 x 60), (5 x 60).

Q:

The area of a field in the shape of a trapezium measures 1440sq m. The perpendicular distance between its parallel sides is 24cm. If the ratio of the sides is 5:3, the length of the longer parallel side is:

A) 75 B) 85
C) 95 D) 105

Answer & Explanation Answer: A) 75

Explanation:

Area of field = 12*5x+3x*24 = 96x sq.m

96x = 1440       => x =144096 = 15

Hence, the length of longer parallel side = 5x = 75m

Q:

At an examination in which maximum marks are 500. P got 10% less than Q, Q got 25% more than R and R got 20% less than S. If P got 360 marks what percentage of marks was obtained by S ?

A) 77 B) 74
C) 80 D) 83

Answer & Explanation Answer: C) 80

Explanation:

Let marks obtained by S = M

R's marks = 0.80M

Q's marks = 1.25 (0.80M)

P's marks = (0.90) (1.25) (0.80M)

= 0.9M

But 0.9M = 360

M = ?

M = 400

Hence % of marks obtained by S

= 400/500 x 100 = 80%.

Q:

Srinivas bought 10 cycles for Rs. 1,750 each. He sold 4 cycles for Rs 8,400, 3 for Rs 1900 each . At what price should he sell the remaining cycles so as to earn an average profit of Rs 320 per cycle ?

A) Rs. 1580 B) Rs. 2200
C) Rs. 1785 D) Rs. 1950

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) Rs. 2200

Explanation:

He sold 4 cycles for Rs. 8400
[It means each cycle price is Rs. 2100]
And again he sold 3 cycles for Rs. 1900 each
If he want to gain avg profit on each cycle is Rs. 320 per cycle.
So profit for 10 cycles is @ Rs.320 is,
10 x 320 = Rs. 3200
He already got Rs. 1850 profit by selling 7 cycles.
Now, remaining amount is 3200 - 1850 = 1350
So from remaining 3 cycles we want to get Rs. 1350 profit ,
1350/3 = 450
so he must sell remaining 3 cycles at Rs. 2200 each one.
