The four women seem to agree that the plate starts out with the letter J. Three of them agree that the plate ends with 12L. Three of them think that the second letter is X, and a different three think that the third letter is K. The plate description that has all of these common elements is D.

We have to find number of permutations of 4 objects out of 6 objects.

This number is 6P4= 360

Therefore, cards can be sent in 360 ways.

Substitute sensible numbers and work out the problem. Then change the numbers back to letters. For example if the machine puts 6 caps on bottles in 2 minutes, it will put 6 /2 caps on per minute, or (6 /2) x 60 caps per hour. Putting letters back this is 60c/m.If you divide the required number of caps (b) by the caps per hour you will get time taken in hours. This gives bm/60c

2) From 10 to 99
Total possibilities = 9*1 = 9 ( here 9 is used for the possibilities of a non zero integer)

3) From 100 to 999 - three type of numbers are there in this range

Let the total capacity of tank be 90 liters.
Capacity of tank filled in 1 minute by K = 3 liters.
Capacity of tank filled in 1 minute by L = 15 liters.
Therefore, capacity of the tank filled by both K and L in 1 minute = 18 liters.
Hence, time taken by both the pipes to overflow the tank = 90/18 = 5 minutes.

Let the breadth of floor be 'b' m.

Then, length of the floor is 'l = (b + 25)'

Area of the rectangular floor = l x b = (b + 25) × b

According to the question,

(b + 15) (b + 8) = (b + 25) × b

b2 + 8b + 15b + 120 = b2 + 25b

2b = 120

b = 60 m.

l = b + 25 = 60 + 25 = 85 m.

Area of the floor = 85 × 60 = 5100 sq.m.

As per the given information,

P can complete the work 'W' in 24 days.

=> one day work of P = W/24

And also given that,

The time taken by P to complete one-third of work is equal to time taken by Q to complete half of the work

=> PW/3 = QW/2

=> P's

1 day =    W/24

   ?    =      W/3

=>  ?  = 24W/3W  = 8

=> QW/2 = 8 days

=> Q alone can complete the work W in 16 days

=> P + Q can complete the work in

1/24 + 1/16 = 5/48
