Let Price be Rs.100

1st CASE:

Then 100 x 70/100 = 70
=> price after discount = 100-70 = Rs.30

2nd CASE:

Then 100 x 40/100 = 40
=> price after discount = 100-40 = Rs.60
then
60 x 30/100 = 18
=> price after 2 consequent discount = 60-18 = Rs.42

=>from 1 and 2 cases, 70% discount is better.

Let Siya's age = x

Then Riya's age = 4x

But given Riya's age = 24

=> 4x = 24 => x = 6

Hence Siya's age = 6 yrs

=> The age difference = 24 - 6 = 18 yrs.

Substitute sensible numbers and work out the problem. Then change the numbers back to letters. Distance travelled by bus in 10 min with 20 kmph == Distance travelled by man in 8 min with (20 + p) kmph in opposite direction

=> 20 x 10/60 = 8/60 (20 + p)

=> p = 40/8 = 5 kmph.
