Q:

The ratio of K’s and M’s ages is 4: 5. If the difference between the present age of M and the age of K, 5 years hence is 3 years, then what is the difference and total of present ages of K and M?

A) 8, 72 yrs B) 16, 65 yrs
C) 12, 84 yrs D) 10, 60 yrs

Answer & Explanation Answer: A) 8, 72 yrs

Explanation:

Let the present ages be K,M

Given K/M = 4/5

5K - 4M = 0 ......(1)

Also given that,

M - (K + 5) = 3

M - K = 8 .........(2)

Then, by solving (1) & (2)

M = 40 yrs and K = 32 yrs

Hence, Total of ages = 40 + 32 = 72 yrs

Difference of ages = 40 - 32 = 8 yrs.

The bank also offers regular five-year GICs paying a fixed rate of 5% compounded annually. Calculate and compare the maturity values of $1000 invested in each type of GIC. (Note that 5% is the average of the five successive one-year rates paid on the Escalator GIC.)

A) 1276.28 B) 1234
C) 1278 D) 1256

Answer & Explanation Answer: A) 1276.28

Q:

Area of a square and a rectangle are equal. If side of the square is 40 cm and length of the rectangle is 64 cm, what is the perimeter of the rectangle ?

A) 187 cm B) 178 cm
C) 149 cm D) 194 cm

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) 178 cm

Explanation:

Area of square = 40 x 40

= 1600 sq.cm

Given that the areas of Square and Rectangle are equal

=> Area of rectangle = 1600 Sq.cm

We know that, Area of rectangle = L x B

Given L = 64 cm

Breadth of rectangle = 1600/64 = 25 cm

Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(L + B) = 2(64+25) = 178 cm.

A) Monday B) Friday
C) Sunday D) Tuesday

Answer & Explanation Answer: C) Sunday

Explanation:

25 Jan, 1981 = (1980 years + Period from 1.1.1981 to 25.1.1981)

Odd days in 1600 years = 0

Odd days in 300 years = 1

80 years = (60 ordinary years + 20 leap year) = (60 x 1 + 20 x 2)= 2 odd days

Jan = 25 days = (3 weeks + 4 days) = 4 odd days.

Total number of odd days = (0 + 1 + 2 + 4) = 7= 0 odd day.
