The IT ministry launched a desktop software e-Aksharayan in a conference for Indian Languages Technology Industry 'Bhashantara', in New Delhi. The objective is to enable editing and printing of text in scanned documents. The software e-Aksharayan was launched in 7 Indian languages.

Simple covalent compounds are generally named by using prefixes metal name + nonmetal name + suffix –ide to indicate how many atoms of each element are shown in the formula. Also, the ending of the last (most negative) element is changed to -ide. The prefixes used are mono-, di-, tri-, tetra-, penta-, hexa-, and so forth.

Electronegativity refers to the ability of an atom to attract shared electrons in a covalent bond. The higher the value of the electronegativity, the more strongly that element attracts the shared electrons.

Electronegativity increases from bottom to top in groups, and increases from left to right across periods. Thus, fluorine is the most electronegative element and lithium is the least.
