Shri Shyam Nandan Mishra was Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha from December 1969 to March 1971. He was imprisoned in connection with the Quit India Movement during 1942–1943.

Sodium hydroxide is used in many industries: in the manufacture of pulp and paper, textiles, drinking water, soaps and detergents, and as a drain cleaner.
