Q:

Find the odd man out 1 4 9 16 22 36?

A) 9 B) 16
C) 22 D) 36

Answer & Explanation Answer: C) 22

Explanation:

In the given series 1 4 9 16 22 36

1 = 1 x 1

4 = 2 x 2

9 = 3 x 3

16 = 4 x 4

25 = 5 x 5 (Not 22)

36 = 6 x 6

Hence, the odd man in the series is 22.

Q:

If 10 men take 15 days to complete a work. In how many days will 37 men complete the work?

A) 3 days B) 4 days
C) 5 days D) 6 days

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) 4 days

Explanation:

Given 10 men take 15 days to complete a work

=> Total mandays = 15 x 10 = 150

Let the work be 150 mandays.

=> Now 37 men can do 150 mandays in 150/37 =~ 4 days

Q:

Two parallel chords on the same side of the centre of a circle are 5 cm apart. If the chords are 20 and 28 cm long, what is the radius of the circle?

A) 14.69 cm B) 15.69 cm
C) 18.65 cm D) 16.42 cm

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) 15.69 cm

Explanation:

circle11487663359.jpg image

Draw the two chords as shown in the figure. Let O be the center of the circle. Draw OC
perpendicular to both chords. That divides the two chords in half.
So CD = 10 and AB = 14. Draw radii OA and OD, both equal to radius r.
We are given that BC = 5, the distance between the two chords. Let
OB = x.

We use the Pythagorean theorem on right triangle ABO

AO² = AB² + OB²
r² = 14² + x²

We use the Pythagorean theorem on right triangle DCO

DO² = CD² + OC²

We see that OC = OB+BC = x+5, so

r² = 10² + (x+5)²

So we have a system of two equations:

r² = 14² + x²
r² = 10² + (x+5)²

Since both left sides equal r², set the right sides
equal to each other.

14² + x² = 10² + (x+5)²
196 + x² = 100 + x² + 10x + 25
196 = 125 + 10x
71 = 10x
7.1 = x

r² = 14² + x²
r² = 196 + (7.1)²
r² = 196 + 50.41
r² = 246.41
r = √246.41
r = 15.69745202 cm

Q:

Where are the Macronutrients located on a Nutritional Label?

A) On the Top B) On the Right
C) On the Bottom D) On the Left

Answer & Explanation Answer: A) On the Top

Explanation:

Macronutrients are located on the Top of a Nutritional Label.

Macronutrients are essential substances that the body needs to survive and develop. There are 3 main Macronutrients:

1. Fats

2. Proteins (and)

3. Carbohydrates.

The nutritional label is an important part of any food package. Since the Macronutrients refer to a list of nutrients that we need daily in a pretty large amount are the most important nutrients to sustain our living, commonly they are written on the top of the Nutrition Labels.

Q:

A Sarcomere is the distance between two

A) Z discs B) H zones
C) A bands D) I bands

Answer & Explanation Answer: A) Z discs

Explanation:

A sarcomere is the basic unit of striated muscle tissue. It is the repeating unit between two Z lines.

Skeletal muscles are composed of tubular muscle cells (myocytes called muscle fibers or myofibers) which are formed in a process known as myogenesis. Muscle fibers contain numerous tubular myofibrils. Myofibrils are composed of repeating sections of sarcomeres, which appear under the microscope as alternating dark and light bands. Sarcomeres are composed of long, fibrous proteins as filaments that slide past each other when a muscle contracts or relaxes.

A muscle fiber from a biceps muscle may contain 100,000 sarcomeres.

Q:

Which statement best describes Arteries?

A) They have thin walls and transport blood away from the heart B) They have thick walls and transport blood toward the heart
C) They have thin walls and transport blood toward the heart D) They have thick walls and transport blood away from the heart

Answer & Explanation Answer: D) They have thick walls and transport blood away from the heart

Explanation:

Because arteries have to have thick walls for use of protection. Its when you get to veins where the walls get thinner. And the use of the heart is to pump blood to all of the cells and organs in the body so it would be to transport blood away from the heart.

i.e.

Arteries = Away from the Heart
Veins = Back to the Heart.
