Biogeochemical cycles are crucial to ecosystem function because ::

1. Chemical elements are available in only limited amounts and must be recycled.

2. Nutrients and other life-sustaining molecules are in limited supply and must be continually recycled.

Agriculture would be a good example of a purely competitive industry.

The atmosphere is a mixture of several gases. Nitrogen is the most abundant gas in the atmoshere and oxygen is next to it. It is 78% in the atmosphere and 21% is oxygen. Remaining 1% is all other gases like argon, hydrogen, neon, etc...
