The United Nations Public Service Day is observed every year on June 23 to recognize the work of public servants and to encourage young people to pursue careers in the public sector. The day is also observed to celebrate value and virtue of public service to the community and to raise awareness regarding the contribution of public service in the development of society and honouring the work of public servants.

The first official International Women’s Day took place in 1911.

The 2018 theme of the International Yoga Day is “Yoga for Peace”. International Yoga Day (4th) is being celebrated worldwide on 21st June to promote yoga and make it a part of people’s daily routine.

On October 15, the United Nations commemorates the International Day of Rural Women.This year the theme is 'Sustainable infrastructure, services and social protection for gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls.

World Town Planning Day (WTPD) also known as World Urbanism Day is celebrated on 8 November.
