Reverse faults occur in areas undergoing compression. In a reverse fault, the block above the fault moves up relative to the block below the fault.

Sound is a kind of energy created when something vibrates. When this vibration reaches an ear, it is translated into what we recognize as a sound. Sound vibration must travel through matter. Therefore, it can travel through air and water but not through vacuum.

Heat lost by hot object = Heat gained by cold object

where we ignore heat gained or lost from/to the surroundings.

The study of heat gained and lost in this manner is often called Calorimetry.
