The three major amendments that were passed shortly after the Civil War are the reconstruction amendments that were the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments.

The 13th Amendment abolished slavery,

The 14th granted African American citizenship and equal protection before the law, (and)

The 15th Amendment attempted to secure the right to vote for newly freed slaves. 

Documents from Western India –Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra –record petitions sent bywomen to the village panchayat, seeking redress and justice. Wives protested against the infidelity of their husbands or the neglect of the wife and children by the male head of the household, the grihasthi. While male infidelity was not always punished, the state and “superior” caste groups did intervene when it came to ensuring that the family was adequately provided for. In most cases when women petitioned to the panchayat, their names were excluded from the record: the petitioner was referred to as themother, sister or wife of the male head of the household.

 The primary reason to issue stock is to raise money to start and maintain an ongoing business.

The reasons that a company might want to raise money by issuing stock are:

• To buy more advanced equipment

• To pay for new buildings and inventories

• To hire more employees

• To provide for a merger or acquisition

• To decrease debt

• To give company owners greater flexibility

• To place a value on the company.
