Technology Questions

Q:

What is Wi-Fi technology and over which frequency band it operates?

Answer

Wi-Fi technology is a technology used for transmitting a signal using the 802.11 specifications works a lot like it does with a basic Ethernet hub: They’re both two-way forms of communication, and they both use the same frequency to both transmit and receive, often referred to a half-duplex. WLANs used radio frequencies (RFs) that are radiated into the air from an antenna that creates radio waves. These waves can be absorbed, refracted, or reflected by walls, water, and metal surfaces, resulting in low signal strength. So because of this vulnerability to surrounding environmental factors, it’s pretty apparent that wire-less will never offer us the same robustness as a wired network can, but that still doesn’t mean we’re not going to use or run the wireless or Wi-Fi.

Q:

What is a Trigger? Explain Types of PL/SQL Triggers.

Answer

A database trigger is procedural code that is automatically executed in response to certain events on a particular table or view in a database. The trigger is mostly used for maintaining the integrity of the information on the database.

Syntax:

CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER [Trigger Name] [Before / After / Instead Of]

ON [schema].[table]

<PL/SQL subprogram>

Types of PL/SQL triggers :

> Row trigger          - The trigger fires for each ROW affected.

> Statement trigger - The trigger is fired once when the condition is matched

> Before and After trigger - The BEFORE trigger run the trigger action before the insert, update or delete statement. The AFTER trigger runs the trigger action after the insert, update or delete statement is executes.

Q:

What does a VLAN do?

A) Breaks up broadcast domains in a layer 2 switch internetwork B) Provides multiple broadcast domains within a single collision domain
C) Provides multiple collision domains on one switch port D) Acts as the fastest port to all servers

Answer & Explanation Answer: A) Breaks up broadcast domains in a layer 2 switch internetwork

Explanation:

virtual LAN (VLAN) is any broadcast domain that is partitioned and isolated in a computer network at the data link layer (OSI layer 2). LAN is the abbreviation for local area network and in this context, virtual refers to a physical object recreated and altered by additional logic.

VLANs work by applying tags to network packets and handling these tags in networking systems – creating the appearance and functionality of network traffic that is physically on a single network but acts as if it is split between separate networks. In this way, VLANs can keep network applications separate despite being connected to the same physical network, and without requiring multiple sets of cabling and networking devices to be deployed.

Q:

In terms of DB2 indexing, what is the root page?

Answer

The simplest DB2 index is the B-tree and the B-tree's top page is called the root page. The root page entries represent the upper range limits of the index and are referenced first in a search.
