‘Were’ needs to be replaced with ‘was’ to make the sentence grammatically correct. This is because, ‘If the subjects are joined by as well as, with, along with, together with, and not, in addition to, but, besides, except, rather than, accompanied by, like, unlike, no less than, nothing but, led by, headed by, guided by, controlled by,governed by,etc.. Then the verb will agree with the first subject. Thus, the correct formation would be, ‘The teacher as well as his wife was invited’.

In Feb 2009, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) was additionally designated as the authority responsible for coastal security in territorial waters, including areas to be patrolled by the Coastal Police.

The Coast Guard is also responsible for overall coordination between Central and State agencies in matters relating to Coastal Security.In order to achieve near gap-free surveillance of the entire coastline, 38 additional Radar Stations and 08 Mobile Surveillance Systems are being installed.
