Q:

Den Bosch and Eastbourne are two famous cities 300 km apart. Maradona starts from Den Bosch at 8:24 am . An hour later pele starts from Den Bosch. After travelling for 1 hour , Pele reaches Nottingham that Maradona had passed 40 minutes earlier. Nottingham falls on the way from Den Bosch to Eastbourne. If pele and Maradona just reaches  Eastbourne at the same time, what are thespeeds of the Maradona and Pele Respectively?

A) 100 km/h , 125 km/h B) 60 km/h , 80 km/h
C) 60 km/h , 75 km/h D) 75 km/h , 100 km/h

Answer & Explanation Answer: D) 75 km/h , 100 km/h

Explanation:

Let Pele x km in 1 hour. so Maradona takes (2h-40min)=1 h 20 min to cover x km. Let speed of Maradona and Pele be M and P respectively than

                            x =M x (4/3)  and x= P x 1

  => M/P = 3/4

 Again      300M=300P=1

3003k-3004k=1

 => k= 25

  M= 3k = 75 km/h   and   P= 4k = 100 km/h

( Through options it is very easy to solve)

Q:

Two horses start trotting towards each other, one from A to B and another from B to A. They cross each other after one hour and the first horse reaches B, 5/6 hour before the second horse reaches A. If the distance between A and B is 50 km. what is the speed of the slower horse?

A) 30 km/h B) 15 km/h
C) 25 km/h D) 20 km/h

Answer & Explanation Answer: D) 20 km/h

Explanation:

If the speed of the faster horse be fs and that of slower horse be ss then

 fs+ss=501=50

and       50ss-50fs=56

Now, you can go through options.

The speed of slower  horse is 20km/h

Since,   20+30=50

and  5020-5030=56

Q:

A Person X started at 3 hours earlier  at 40km/h from a place P, then another person Y followed him at 60km/h. Started his journey at 3 O'clock, afternoon. What is the diference in time when X was30 km ahead of Y and when Y was 30 km ahead of X?

A) 2h B) 3h
C) 3.5h D) 4.25h

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) 3h

Explanation:

Time ( when X was 30 km ahead of Y) = (120-30)/20 =4.5h

Time ( when Y was 30 km ahead of X) = (120+30)/20 = 7.5 h

Thus, required  difference in time = 3h

Q:

A group of workers was put on a job. From the second day onwards, one worker was withdrawn each day. The job was finished when the last worker was withdrawn. Had no worker been withdrawn at any stage, the group would have finished the job in 55% of the time. How many workers were there in the group?

A) 50 B) 40
C) 45 D) 10

Answer & Explanation Answer: D) 10

Explanation:

Let the number of workers be x.

Now, Using work equivalence method,

X + (X-1) + (X-2)+ . . . . + 1 = X *55% of X

=> [X * (X+1)] / 2 = X * (55X/100)    [because, Series is in AP. Sum of AP = {No. of terms (first term+ last term)/2} ]

Therefore, X = 10

Q:

A Contractor employed a certain number of workers  to finish constructing a road in a certain scheduled time. Sometime later, when a part of work had been completed, he realised that the work would get delayed by three-fourth of the  scheduled time, so he at once doubled the no of workers and thus he managed to finish the road on the scheduled time. How much work he had been completed, before increasing the number of workers?

A) 10 % B) 14 ( 2/7 )%
C) 20 % D) Can't be determined

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) 14 ( 2/7 )%

Explanation:

Let he initially employed x workers which works for D days and he estimated 100 days for the whole work and then he doubled the worker for (100-D) days.

D * x +(100- D) * 2x= 175x

=>  D= 25 days

Now , the work done in 25 days = 25x

Total work = 175x

Therefore, workdone before increasing the no of workers = 25x175x×100 % = 1427%

Q:

Tell us about a situation in which you had to adjust to changes over which you had no control. How did you handle it?

Answer

Strategy Statement:

The interviewer is interested in knowing how you are able to perform in a workplace where you are not the one who is ‘making the calls’. The typical workplace environment involves a tiered structure where there are those who make the decisions and those who perform the work. An entry level position most often assumes the role of the latter.

Sample Response:

I am a performer of tasks. As a new employee, I understand that many of my duties will be directed by those above me. These will undoubtedly involve changes, and as long as I understand how the changes are related to the betterment of the company/business/corporation, I am fully ‘on board’. I once worked for a corporation where one of my duties was to prepare the annual report. As a result of input from the overseeing board and members, the format for that report was changed significantly. Although this meant that I had to relearn the report-writing process, with my understanding that this change would mean that the report was more accessible and easy to read, I had no problem with the demands of that change.

Q:

What do you like to do when you're not at work?

Answer

Be sure to emphasize those activities that may complement your on-the-job duties. For Example, if you're applying for a  position as a book-store manager, mentioning that you read three books per a week is highly appropriate.
