If the total area of pump=1 part

The pumop take 2 hrs to fill 1 part 

The pumop take1 hour to fill 1/2 portion 

Due to lickage  

The pumop take 7/3 hrs to fill 1 part 

The pumop take1 hour to fill 3/7 portion 

Now the difference of area = (1/2-3/7)=1/14 

This 1/14 part of water drains in 1 hour 

Total area=1 part of water drains in (1x14/1)hours= 14 hours 

So the leak can drain all the water of the tank in 14 hours. 

Leak will empty the tank in 14 hrs

The wages of labourers in a factory increases in the ratio 22:25 and there was a reduction in the number of labourers in the ratio 15:11. Find the original wage bill if the present bill is Rs 5000 ?
Ratio of increase of wages = 22:25
Ratio of decrease of labourers = 15:11
Compound ratio of wages of labourers = 22 x 15 : 25 x 11 = 330:275
Final bill = Rs. 5000
For 275 ratio wages = Rs. 5000
For 1 ratio wages = 5000/275
For 330 ratio wages = 5000/275 x 330 = Rs. 6000

T.D. =(B.G. x 100)/ (R x T)= Rs. (6 x 100)/( 12 x 1) = Rs. 50.

Let the orginal salary = Rs. 100. New's salary = Rs.120.

Decrease on 120 = 20. Decrease on 100 = [(20/120)*100]% = (16 + 2/3) %. 

Speed of the stream = 1
Motor boat speed in still water be = x kmph
Down Stream = x + 1 kmph
Up Stream = x - 1 kmph
[35/(x + 1)] + [35/(x - 1)] = 12
x = 6 kmph

We have: (l - b) = 23 and 2(l + b) = 206 or (l + b) = 103.
Solving the two equations, we get: l = 63 and b = 40.
Area = (l x b) = (63 x 40) = 2520 sq.m
