Quantitative Aptitude - Arithmetic Ability Questions

There are two series, beginning respectively with 3 and 7. In one 3 is added and in another 2 is subtracted.

The next number is 1 - 2 = -1.

41% of 600 - 250 = ? - 77% of 900

⇒ 246 - 250 = ? - 693

⇒ 246 -250 + 693 = ?

⇒ ? = 689

Here in the given series, it follows a pattern that

77 + 2 = 79

79  - 3 = 76

76 + 5 = 81

81 -  7 = 74

74 + 11 = 85

Consecutive adding and subtracting of prime numbers.

So the wrong number in the given series is 75.

Given are the two AP'S:

15,12,9.... in which a=15, d=-3.............(1) 

-15,-13,-11..... in which a'=-15 ,d'=2.....(2)

now using the nth term's formula,we get

a+(n-1)d = a'+(n-1)d'

substituting the value obtained in eq. 1 and 2,

15+(n-1) x (-3) = -15+(n-1) x 2

=> 15 - 3n + 3 = -15 + 2n - 2

=> 12 - 3n = -17 + 2n

=> 12+17 = 2n+3n

=> 29=5n

=> n= 29/5

Total number of outcomes possible, n(S) = 10 + 25 = 35

Total number of prizes, n(E) = 10

 P(E)=n(E)n(S)=1035=27
