The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Ajay Vipin Nanavati appointment as Non-Official Director/Non-Executive Chairman in Syndicate Bank for three years. Melwyn Rego as MD & CEO of Syndicate bank.

As the chairman became responsible for overall policy directions, the managing director and chief executive officer became the executive head, accountable for day-to-day functioning of the bank.

Surekha Marandi has been appointed as the new Executive Director (ED) of Reserve Bank of India (RBI). She succeeded U S Paliwal, who retired on December 31, 2016.

Private sector lender HDFC Bank has made online fund transfer through RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) and NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer) free with effect from November 1, with an aim to promote digital economy.

According to the revised charges, customers of savings and salary accounts of HDFC Bank will not have to pay any charge for transferring funds online using its RTGS and NEFT facilities.

India’s first indigenously designed and developed high thrust cryogenic rocket engine generating a nominal thrust of 19 tonnes was successfully endurance hot tested for a duration of 800 seconds on July 16, 2015 at ISRO Propulsion Complex, Mahendragiri.

The engine will be used for powering the Cryogenic stage (C25), the upper stage of the next generation GSLV Mark-III launch vehicle of ISRO, capable of launching four tonne class satellites.

This cryogenic engine of C25 Stage operates on Gas Generator Cycle using extremely low temperature propellants – Liquid Hydrogen (LH2) at 20 Kelvin (-253 deg C) and Liquid Oxygen (LOX) at 80K (-193 deg C).
