Lord Dalhousie was appointed as Governer General of India from 1848–1856. The first railway line connecting Bombay and Thane was laid under his authority in 1853 and is known as the maker of Modern India. He made way For Telegraph Services in India. 

He is also called as Father of Indian Railways.

India's first passenger train run took place from Mumbai to Thane for around 34 kms on 16th April in the year 1853. 

That train was hauled by three steam locomotives : Sahib, Sindh and Sultan.

That train had 14 carriages, carrying around 400 passengers.

Madurai is one of the major cities in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. It is the 25th most populated city in India, located on the banks of River Vaigai.

In the Indian history, Madurai was the capita of Pandyas.

Mataji Maharani Tapaswini was one of the strongest proponents of female education in India. Her greatest contribution came in the form of the Mahakali Pathshala which she set up in Kolkata in 1893.

The school was a completely indigenous affair which did not rely on either foreign aid or assistance. The education of girls was carried out on a strictly national basis in the hopes that they would be able to revive and regenerate Hindu society.
