Joseph F. Glidden - Father of Barbed Wire.

• Glidden was born in New York in 1812. He invented Barbed Wire in 1873 and was granted the patent on Nov. 24, 1874. After a three year battle over the patent, which he eventually won received a patent for the modern invention in 1874 after he made his own modifications to previous versions.

An invention that improved safety for railway passengers is Air brakes. With the use of air brakes using compressed air, become more effective by preventing many train accidents.

In 1985 the physicist Wilhelm Rontgen discovered X-rays, the "X" signifying their unknown origin.He later found that the rays could pass through flesh and by using photographic plates could make images of bones inside the body.
