Q:

Two partners investede Rs. 1250 and Rs. 850 respectively in a business. They distributed 60% of the profit equally and decide to distribute the remaining 40% as the ratio of their capitals. If one partner received Rs. 30 more than the other, find the total profit?

Answer

Let the total profit be Rs.x

60% of the profit = \inline \frac{60}{100}\times x=Rs.\frac{3x}{5}

from  this part of the profit each gets = Rs.\inline \frac{3x}{10}

40% of the profit = \inline \frac{40}{100}\times x=Rs.\frac{2x}{5}

Now, this amount of Rs.\inline \frac{2x}{5} has been divided in the ratio of capitals 1250 : 850 = 25 :17

\inline \therefore Share on first capital = \inline (\frac{2x}{5}\times \frac{25}{42})=Rs.\frac{5x}{21}

Share on second capital = \inline (\frac{2x}{5}\times \frac{17}{42})=Rs.\frac{17x}{105}

Total money received by 1st investor = \inline [\frac{3x}{10}+\frac{5x}{21}]= Rs.\frac{113x}{210}

Total money received by 2nd investor = \inline [\frac{113x}{210}+\frac{97x}{210}]=Rs.\frac{97x}{210}

\inline \therefore x = 393.75

Hence total profit = Rs. 393.75

A) 80 Degrees B) 75 Degrees
C) 60 Degrees D) 105 Degrees

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) 75 Degrees

Explanation:

Angle traced by hour hand in 17/2 hrs = 36012×172o = 255

Angle traced by min hand in 30 min = 36060×30o = 180

Therefore,  Required angle = (255 - 180) = 75o

Q:

On a sum of money, the simple interest for 2 years is Rs. 660,while the compound interest is Rs.696.30,the rate of interest being the same in both the cases. The rate of interest is

A) 10% B) 11%
C) 12% D) 13%

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) 11%

Explanation:

Difference in C.I and S.I for 2 years

= Rs(696.30-660)

=Rs. 36.30.

S.I for one years = Rs330.

S.I on Rs.330 for 1 year =Rs. 36.30

Rate

= (100x36.30/330x1)%

= 11%

Q:

From a container, 6 liters milk was drawn out and was replaced by water. Again 6 liters of mixture was drawn out and was replaced by the water. Thus the quantity of milk and water in the container after these two operations is 9:16. The quantity of mixture is:

A) 15 B) 16
C) 25 D) 31

Answer & Explanation Answer: A) 15

Explanation:

Let quantity of mixture be x liters.

Suppose a container contains x units of liquid from which y units are taken out and replaced by Water. After operations , the quantity of pure liquid = x1-yxn units, Where n = no of operations .

So, Quantity of Milk = x1-6x2

Given that, Milk : Water = 9 : 16

=> Milk : (Milk + Water) = 9 : (9+16)

=> Milk : Mixture = 9 : 25

 Therefore, x1-6x2x=925

=> x = 15 liters

Q:

What time between 4 and 5 o'clock will the hands of a clock be at rightangle?

A) 3 5/11 B) 4 5/11
C) 5 5/11 D) 6 5/11

Answer & Explanation Answer: C) 5 5/11

Explanation:

this type of problems the formulae is
(5*x + or -15)*(12/11)
Here x is replaced by the first interval of given time
here i.e 4
Case 1 : (5*x + 15)*(12/11)
(5*4 +15)*(12/11)
(20+15)*(12/11)
35*12/11=420/11=38 2/11 min.
Therefore they are right angles at 38 2/11 min .past4
Case 2 : (5*x-15)*(12/11)
(5*4-15)*(12/11)
(20-15)*(12/11)
5*12/11=60/11 min=5 5/11min
Therefore they are right angles at 5 5/11 min.past4.
