Q:

Five men and nine women can do a piece of work in 10 days. Six men and twelve women can do the same work in 8 days. In how many days can three men and three women do the work  ?

A) 18 days B) 20 days
C) 16 days D) 14 days

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) 20 days

Explanation:

(5m + 9w)10 = (6m + 12w)8

=> 50m + 90w = 48w + 96 w    => 1m = 3w

5m + 9w = 5m + 3m = 8m

8 men can do the work in 10 days.

3m +3w = 3m + 1w = 4m

So, 4 men can do the work in (10 x 8)/4 = 20 days.

Q:

Amit can do a piece of work in 45 days, but Bharath can do the same work in 5 days less, than Amit, when  working alone. Amit and Bharath both started the work together but Bharath  left after some days and Amit finished the remaining work in 56 days with half of his efficiency but he did the work with Bharath with his complete efficiency. For how many days they had worked together?

A) 6 B) 8
C) 9 D) 12

Answer & Explanation Answer: B) 8

Explanation:

    AmitBharatNo.of Days4540Efficiency2.22Percent(=145)2.5 Percent(=140)

Amit did the work in 56 days = 56×145×2=2845

Therefore, Rest work 17/45 was done by Amit and Bharath = 174517360 = 8 days

( since Amit and Bharath  do the work in one day = 145+140=17360)

Q:

If 47. 2506 = 4*A + 7/B + 2*C + 5/D + 6*E, then the value of 5*A + 3*B + 6*C + D + 3*E is :

A) 55.6003 B) 53.603
C) 153.6003 D) 213.003

Answer & Explanation Answer: C) 153.6003

Explanation:

4*A + 7/B + 2*C + 5/D + 6*E =47.2506
=> 4 * A + 7/B + 2 *C + 5/D + 6*E = 40 + 7 + 0.2 + 0.05 + 0.0006
Comparing the terms on both sides, we get :
4*A =40, 7/B = 7, 2*C = 0.2, 5/D = 0.05, 6*E = 0.0006
A = 10,
B = 1,
C = 0.1,
D = 100,
E = 0.0001.
5*A + 3*B + 6*C + D + 3*E =(5*10) + (3*1) + (6*0.1) +100 +(3*0.0001)
=50 + 3 + 0.6 + 100 + 0.003 = 153.6003.

Q:

If the cost price of a certain object doubles, then the loss gets tripled of what it was initially. The initial loss % was ?

A) 0 % B) 25 %
C) 75 % D) 50 %

Answer & Explanation Answer: D) 50 %

Explanation:

Let the cost price be x and selling price be y.
Loss = x – y

When the cost price doubles, the loss gets tripled.
So it becomes like this, 2x – y = 3(x-y)

=> x = 2y

Loss % = (loss/ C.P) x 100 = [(2y-y)/2y] x 100= 50 %

A) I alone sufficient while II alone not sufficient to answer B) II alone sufficient while I alone not sufficient to answer
C) Either I or II alone sufficient to answer D) Both I and II are necessary to answer

Answer & Explanation Answer: D) Both I and II are necessary to answer

Explanation:

Given : S.I. = Rs. 50.

I  gives,  R = 10% p.a.

II gives,  T = 10 years.

Sum = (100 x S.I)/(t x r ) =  Rs.(100 x 50)/(10 x 10) = Rs.50
