Removing the contaminents if any in the water which causes harm to our health is involved in the purifying of water. 

This process involves chemicals. Chloramines, Hydrogen peroxide, Iodine are the chemicals which are used in purifying water.

The given series of numbers follow the rule that,

2880/6 = 480
480/5   = 96
96/4     = 24
24/3     = 8
8/2       = 4
4/1       = 4

But 92 is not in the rule. It is the wrong number in the given series.

Let first no. be "k" and multiple be "l"...start value of y with 3
then,
[(k x y) + {l x (l-1)}]
Thus, we get

15 x 3 + 3 x 2 = 51
51 x 4 + 4 x 3 = 216
216 x 5 + 5 x 4 = 1100
1100 x 6 + 6 x 5 = 6630
6630 x 7 + 7 x 6 = 46452

Therefore, the missing number is 6630.

Here the relation between the given words is that the second word is the collection of the first word.

As the collection of grains is called Stock, similarly, the collection of sticks is called as Bundle.

Hence, Grain : Stock :: Stick : Bundle.

If we consider the given numbers  6, 4, 9, 10, 11 to be the month number then we can easily find the killer.
