Corporation tax is a tax imposed on the net income of the company. Companies, both private and public which are registered in India under the Companies Act 1956, are liable to pay corporate tax.

Taxes in India are levied by the Central Government and the state governments. Some minor taxes are also levied by the local authorities such as the Municipality. The authority to levy a tax is derived from the Constitution of India which allocates the power to levy various taxes between the Central and the State.

Hence, Corporate Tax is imposed by Central Government.

1. In the latest Global 500 rankings of most valuable and powerful brands across the globe, Sundar Pichai’s Google has surpassed Apple to achieve the top position.
2. The Brand Finance Global 500 list published on February 2, 2017 had featured Apple as the top brand for continuous five years.
3. However, for 2017, the ranking revealed that Google’s brand value rose by 24 percent to $109.5bn in 2016. The brand value of Apple on the other hand dropped 27 percent to $107bn.
4. This is for the first time since 2011 that Google has been placed at the top spot. The third place has been occupied by Amazon.
5. The ranking is based upon factors such as marketing investment, familiarity, loyalty, staff satisfaction and corporate reputation.

• Recommend structuring of the marketing department as per the demands of the different tasks, roles and responsibilities keeping in mind the cost(budget) factor as long as it fits within the budget of the company.

• Finding out and establishing the level of skills, duties and responsibilities of the employees via job descriptions and job specifications.

• Proper and regular supervision of the department to ensure its smooth functioning

• Determine the marketing functions of the department as per the requirements (advertising,distribution channels,promotional activities)
