Q:

A garrison of 2000 men has provisions for 54 days. At the end of 15 days, a reinforcement arrives, and it is now found that the provisions will last only for 20 days more. What is the reinforcement ?

A) 1900 B) 2100
C) 1700 D) 2000

Answer & Explanation Answer: A) 1900

Explanation:

Given 2000 ---- 54 days

The provisions for 2000 men for 39 days can be completed by 'm' men for only 20 days.

i.e, 2000 ----- 39 days == m ---- 20 days

=> m x 20 = 2000 x 39

m = 3900

So total men for 20 days is 3900

=> 2000 old and 1900 new reinforcement.

Hence, reinforcement = 1900.

Q:

How can the company’s compliance policies be improved and/or better applied, communicated and enforced?

Answer

Compliance policies should be accessible to all employees, well communicated, and easy to understand and apply. Responses to this question can provide valuable end-user feedback in this regard. The additional area of “enforcement” may provide some insight into an organization’s ethical tone and employee perceptions about fairness and equality. A quality compliance program will assure that all violators are treated fairly, but equally. If employees perceive that management or others are “above the law,” the compliance program loses credibility.

Q:

A man stands in a lift which accelerates upwards. The resultant reaction force on the floor of the lift is

A) greater than the weight of the man B) less than the weight of the man
C) Same as the weight of the man D) Zero

Answer & Explanation Answer: A) greater than the weight of the man

Explanation:

The weight of the man mg is acting on the floor. As the lift is moving up with an acceleration, say a, the man too in it is having this acceleration. The force producing this acceleration is ma. By Newton's third law, this force will have an equal reaction pressing the floor equal to ma. Therefore the total resultant reaction on the floor is mg+ma = m(g+a) which is mg, the weight of the man. So (a) is correct.
