Sharjah, the city of United Arab Emirates (UAE), has been designated as the UNESCO World Book Capital 2019 by Irina Bokova, the Director-General of UNESCO, at the Headquarters of the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) at La Haye. The honour is in recognition of the Emirate’s pioneering role in supporting and expanding the local and regional publishing industries, promoting reading to become an intrinsic cultural practice, as well as embracing inter-cultural, knowledge-based dialogue. Sharjah was the first emirate in UAE to establish a formal school and a library. It was also the first emirate to house many cultural institutions like the Emirates Publishers Association and the Emirates’ writers Union. Sharjah is the 19th city to become World Book Capital. It is preceded by Conakry in 2017 and Athens in 2018.

In short, Democracy is a government "of the people, by the people, and for the people."

Definition :

Democracy "is government by the people in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system." 

The conditions of a democratic election are:

* Every citizen should have one vote ad every vote should have an equal value.

* Voters choose from the political parties and candidates should be free to contest elections giving the voters a real choice.

* Elections should be held at regular intervals.

* The candidate preferred by the people should get elected.

* Elections should be conducted in free and fair manner where people can choose as they really wish.

On December 4, 1971, the Indian Navy successfully executed Operation Trident, which was a devastating attack on Pakistan Naval Headquarters in Karachi. The operation, which marked the first use of anti-ship missiles in the region, did irreparable damage to the Karachi port during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. To commemorate this, December 4 is celebrated as the Indian Navy Day.

Every year to celebrate the achievements and role of the naval force to the country we clebrate Navy Day. The Indian Navy is the marine branch of the Indian Armed Forces and is led by the President of India as Commander-in-Chief.
