The Atmosphere is divided into 4 layers according to major changes in temperature. They are :

3. Mesosphere  and

4. Thermosphere.

The farther away from earth, the thinner the atmosphere gets.

Heat transfer through radiation takes place in form of electromagnetic waves mainly in the infrared region. It depends on nature of the body, its temperature and kind & extent of its surface.
