Astronomy is the study of planets and heavenly bodies. Historically, astronomy has focused on observations of heavenly bodies. It is a close cousin to astrophysics. Rangaswamy Cup is associated with Hockey. Introduced in 1928, the Rangaswami Cup, was originally known as Inter-Provincial Tournament meant to pick up players for the national team for the Olympics.

After some years, The Hindu Group in 1951 presented the Rangaswami Cup that was named after one of its editors and since then the tournament is known as the Rangaswami Cup.
