Let A's age 10 years ago be x years

Then B's age 10 years ago be 2x yeats

$\inline \Rightarrow \frac{x+10}{2x+10}=\frac{3}{4}$

$\inline \Rightarrow 4(x+10)=3(2x+10)$

$\inline \Rightarrow x=5$

$\inline \therefore$ Total of their present ages = $x+10+2x+10$

= $3x+20$

= 35 years

Let their ages one year ago be 4x and 3x years

$\Rightarrow \frac{4x+2}{3x+2}=\frac{5}{4}\Rightarrow 4(4x+2)=5(3x+2)$

$\Rightarrow x=2$

$\therefore$ Sum of their present ages =(4x +1+3x+1) = 16 years.
