Mumps : This is a swelling caused by information of parotid glands placed in front of our ear region. The inflammation is caused by a virus.

The two main components of air are nitrogen and oxygen. They are seperated by the fractional distillation of liquid air. Liquefied air contains liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen. Liquid nitrogen with the lower boiling point more readily evaporates than the less volatile liquid oxygen. 

Fractional distillation is the process of seperation of a mixture of two or more liquids into the different fractions, which differ fairly widely in their boiling points. The liquid with a lower boiling point will be vaporized first and hence would be the distillate (first fraction). Eg. Ethyl alcohol has a boiling point of 78.10C and water 1000C. When a mixture of these two liquids is heated, alcohol vaporizes first and is collected separately as the distillate. 

The water rise in a capillary tube dipped in water is such that the weight of water in the tube above the surface of water in the vessel is equal to (balances) the upward force due to surface tension. So it is clear that if the the bore (radius) to the tube is decreased, the height of the water column in it must be greater.  So, (a) is correct.

Combined efficiency of all the three boats = 60 passenger/trip 

Now, consider option(a)

15 trips and 150 passengers means efficiency  of B1 =  10 passenger/trip 

which means in carrying 50 passengers B1 must has taken 5 trips. So the rest trips equal to 5 (10-5 = 5) in which B2 and B3 together carried remaining 250 (300 - 50 = 250) Passengers.

Therefore the efficiency of B2 and B3 = 250/5 = 50 passenger/trip

Let the speed of Kaushik be Sk and speed of Piyush be Sp and let the time taken by Piyush be t second then,

 SkSp = 800t+20600t = 23since given ratio

t = 20 s

Speed of Piyush = Sp = 600/20 = 30 m/s

and    Speed of Kaushik = 800/40 = 20 m/s
