We know that a negative value plus a positive value always count backward and the sign depends on the bigger value sign.

When you are adding a negative number to a positive number, then the value counts backward and takes the sign of the biggest number.

For example::

Adding -5 and +2

-5 + 2 = -3 (big number is 5 and its sign is '-')

Adding -3 and  +5

+5 + (-3) = 5 - 3 = +2(big number is 5 and it has sign '+').  

ATQ,

P : Q = 5 : 12 = 10 : 24

Q : R = 4 : 5.5 = 24 : 33

P:Q:R = 10 : 24 : 33

Sum of the ratios = 10 + 24 + 33 = 67

Difference between the share of R & Q

= (33-24/67 x 2018)

= 9/67 x 2018

= Rs. 271.

(16 – 2)! × 2 = 14! × 2

Let the required number be 'p'

We know, sum of angles in a triangle are 180 deg

According to given data,

p - p/7 = 180

7p - p = 180 x 7

=> 6p = 1260

=> p = 1260/6 = 210

Volume of water displaced = (3 x 2 x 0.01) = 0.06 cu.m. 

Mass of man = Volume of water displaced x Density of water

 = (0.06 x 1000) kg

 = 60 kg.

In all other pairs, the two words are antonyms of each other

and that of 1 girl be g

From the given data,

4(5b + 3g) = 23

20b + 12g = 23 .......(a)

2(3b + 2g) = 7

6b + 4g = 7 ........(b)

Solving (a) & (b), we get

b = 1, g = 1/4

Let number og girls required be 'p'

6(7 x 1 + p x 1/4) = 45

=> p = 2.

Hence, number of girls required = 2

Let the required number be 'p'.

From the given data,

p + 12 = 160 x 1/p

=> p + 12 = 160/p

=> p(p + 12) = 160

=> P^2 + 12p - 160 = 0

=> p^2 + 20p - 8p - 160 = 0

=> P(p + 20) - 8(p + 20) = 0

=> (p + 20)(p - 8) = 0

=> p = -20 or p = 8

As, given the number is a natural number, so it can't be negative.

Hence, the required number p = 8.
